AKCA - PROJECT KHV OBJECTIVES
The Project seeks donations to support KHV research and education projects to develop new technologies and education projects directly related to short-term control and prevention and longer-term eradication of KHV. Potential areas of research that may receive grants include: Developing and/or testing of KHV vaccines; other potential preventatives; more accurate, available and economical tests for KHV; and recommendations to appropriately deal with KHV exposed and/or “recovered” koi. Potential education projects include: dealer and hobbyist information and training on KHV identification, prevention and control of KHV; and a Best Practices Certification program for dealers to intercept and destroy KHV infected fish prior to distribution.

KOI HEALTH PROJECTS OVERVIEW
The Associated Koi Clubs of America (AKCA) has a history of funding projects to promote koi health. Projects are currently being funded and additional projects are being sought. The AKCA’s Koi Health Advisor (KHA) program has been ongoing since 2001 and the seventh annual classes of KHAs is scheduled to graduated in June of 2008. AKCA has committed funds in excess of $200,000 to Koi health initiatives that include specific KHV projects. But much more needs to be done to help protect our living jewels.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Please make a donation! There are many worthwhile causes that deserve our financial support. However it is solely up to us as individual koi lovers, organizations, and professionals to protect the special beauty and serenity that koi provide. AKCA is paying all expenses involved with this project so every dollar donated will be a dollar donated to a worthwhile KHV project. To learn more about making a donation for KHV research

100% of donations will be used for KHV projects
AKCA has agreed to pay all administrative expenses incurred by this project. So every dollar donated to this project will be a dollar contributed to KHV research and/or education.

All Project KHV Committee members are volunteers.
