Patti Magee Original Watercolor Koi Painting.

This On-Line Auction will begin May 1 and conclude June 30, 2005.

I am excited to announce that the next special on-line auction to benefit KHV research is this beautiful original watercolor koi painting by Patti Magee valued at $1,100. This is the original painting for the NorthWest Koi and Goldfish Show 1997 poster. The painting depicts five stunning koi in all their glorious splendor swimming peacefully together. This painting is already beautifully custom matted and framed with glass. Total dimensions are about 20 X 25 inches including the frame.

Digital Scan of koi painting showing  some of the finer details (no enhancements).

My very poor photo of painting with frame apologies to the artist for my lack of camera ability. Do I need to say no photo enhancements made!!

This On-Line Auction will begin May 1 and conclude June 30, 2005. Starting bid will be $600 with subsequent bids progressing in minimum increases of at least $25. You can find all the auction details on the AKCA – Project KHV website by going to www.AKCA.org and clicking on the Project KHV link and then open the On-Line Auction page. Or just give me (Ray Jordan) a call at 210-494-2034 and I will be happy to give you all the details over the phone.

Patti Magee is the most successful artist I have seen at capturing the soothing and yet exciting qualities of the koi we all love. She has a very special gift of capturing the essence and presence of Koi with her wonderful talents. Years of experience as a professional graphics artist combine with the mostly self-taught painter to create some of the most beautiful koi & goldfish watercolors imaginable.

Patti's art studio is located in Vancouver, Washington. Patti’s husband, Steve Kaufman, introduced her to koi and they became charter members of the Northwest Koi and Goldfish Club in the mid-eighties. They are truly some of the nicest people you could ever meet. I cannot imagine there is anyone that is more generous with his or her time and talents benefiting the koi hobby today. Thank you Patti for your generous donation for KHV research.

For almost twenty years Patti has designed the show poster, show book cover, show pin, and several T-shirts for her club. When the AKCA Seminar was in Portland, Oregon in 1992 Patti offered to design the AKCA poster, pin, and T-shirt for the seminar. In recent years she has expanded her artwork to include beautiful hand painted ties, hand decorated tote bags, and many more.

She has designed and painted countless club and show poster, art covers,         t-shirts over the past several decades and if anything her art has become even more popular. If you enjoy koi art you should own one of her creations. Patti focuses her love of koi and natural abilities to create beautiful pieces of Koi art that anyone of us would love to see and own. Patti also enjoys special commissions and painting special koi pets and transforming them into a piece of eternal koi art for their owners. A few years ago I sent Patti a graphic design of my “Dream Showa” and asked her to paint it on a silk tie that I planned to wear to the 2003 All Japan Show. I was stopped and turned down several times a very nice profit for the tie. At the end of the trip I gave my tie to a koi breeder, Hajime Sakuma, who had given Martha & I beautiful antique kimono’s. When I got home one of the first things I did was call Patti and order another hand painted tie with my “Dream Showa” design.

Patti specializes in watercolors of koi and goldfish, however other subjects often emerge as subjects in her extraordinary art pieces.
